A blog maintained by Darren's girlfriend (Amber) describing where he is and what's going on in his life (since he can't be bothered to go on Facebook) :)

Planes Are Special...
So Darren left the house at 0430 (mountain time) for the airport yesterday. He gets to the airport, and his flight to Chicago is delayed. So he sits around and waits and waits. Finally gets to Chicago, but because of the delay, he missed his connection.
I get two phone calls. One is when he lands in Chicago, the other is 3-5 hours later. Apparently there are thunderstorms in New York so he has been sitting in the plane on the tarmac for three hours waiting for his flight to leave.
More waiting, waiting, and even more waiting. Eventually Darren DOES make it to New York... at 2300 (mountain time), 0100 (NY time). He calls, says he will call me in the morning. I talked to him this morning and it turns out that, because of the storms, all the planes got in fairly close to each other and the wait for a cab was an hour and a half. So Darren made it to his hotel at 0300AM (NY time) and had to go to Orientation this morning for 0700. Yay for 2.5-3 hours of sleep.
So needless to say, airplanes are the devil.
Also, apparently Astoria is not the nicest place on the planet to be. Le sigh.
I will try and update anytime something exciting happens, otherwise probably every Friday.

I Heart New York
So Darren will be leaving on Sunday August 22nd for New York again. Last time was Albany and this time will be Astoria.
Hopefully I'll get to post some pictures of this job! He'll be moving Fin Fans which are giant radiators for cooling liquids. These weigh about 250 metric tonnes (very big!)
250 metric tonnes = 250 000 kilograms
1 litre of paint is approximately 1 kilogram
He'll be going there with Gilles (the guy that did his mohawk the first time) for who knows how long (as usual).
We will try and make stops to see as many people as possible before this weekend, but it's already about to be Wednesday so... yeah. Lol. To be fair, this is more notice than Mammoet usually gives before a job so hurrah!
Plans so far include moving Aunt B's shed, hopefully going to see Gma J, Crys and James, mom & dad, Amber's mom & brother, and Deanna/Steve/Krissy for the birthday shenanigans Saturday night. Lots to fit into a week, but here's hoping!

Where In The World Is D.T.?
Hey Everyone,
Since Darren doesn't update his Facebook and rarely has time to e-mail when he's away, I figured I would start this blog so people could check it whenever they like and know what's up with him.
I'm hoping to be able to post pictures and short entries on what he's doing on his jobs and trips so hopefully this thing will be a little bit interesting!
Anyone can comment on the entries so you don't need an account to read/comment, and I will update Facebook when a new entry goes up.
Any comments left on here will be relayed to Darren.
